Caring for your marble floor
Marble is a tough and resilient material, which is why it has been used for flooring for many centuries. But it is possible to damage its surface or cause it to discolour if you treat it the wrong way. Follow these tips and your floor won't suffer.
Keep the floor dust and dirt-free by regular dry- and wet-mopping. When wet-mopping, use warm water with a mild soap solution. Rinse with clean warm water and mop up the excess. Let the floor dry thoroughly.
Use mats at entrances to protect the marble from damage by grit and dirt brought in on the soles of shoes.
If you spill anything on the floor, wipe it up immediately.
Don’t use cleaners that contain vinegar or other acids, ammonia or abrasives. These will all damage the marble surface, even corroding or etching into it. Your floor supplier will be able to recommend a suitable cleaning product.
